we have blue sky here not in san jose. a low cloud deck there. right off to the north here what you're going to find is there's your blue sky. a few breaks of sunshine here across the bay including fremont and then up to emoryville. what you'll notice is some of that drizzle i noted that is showing up here in san jose. also a gorgeous shot. what we have happening is a subtropical moisture and the cold front over the past 24 hours is now pushing to the south. you can see all that cloud cover moving into southern california. that's shaping up just in time for your weekend. so we're going to see more of a milder trend building in as we head throughout friday, saturday, and sunday's forecast. slightly drying winds as well. that we do think will produce some 70s in the forecast. we're not going to see that at the coastline though. 50s and 60s. little bit breezy for thursday. friday and saturday, 70s are expected to return. what we are noting here for tonight is by 11:00, a stray shower is possible. but for the morning commuters on thursday, this is wh

this morning san jose police are trying to figure out how a missing elderly san jose man ended up dead in his own apartment. the 69 year old was found stabbed to death hyde inside the hill top manor senior hill apartments near highway 87. this morning police say they do have someone in custody related to the death of stanley jacobson but they're not saying who it is or how they might be related to the killing. a few weeks ago when jacobson was first reported missing, police were reportedly looking for regina butler. neighbors say butler was jacobson's girlfriend. one neighbor says he saw butler being led away by officers in handcuffs. police say jacobson's family found his body yesterday morning on the floor of his apartment but just how long his body was there still a question they are trying to answer. >> what were the people with him doing? were they trying to exploit him financial? trying to target him? the person in custody will be interviewed and give a statement on what led up to this. >> the killing is san jose's eighth homicide of the year. >>> san jose police are also releasi

we have some cloud cover buildup across the san jose hills. looked like it might have tried to squeeze out some moisture but that has not happened, not enough height in those clouds to make any raindrops fall. let's give you another vantage point of san jose where it's been beautiful. you can see the sun setting on the corner of your screen. from this view we have clear skies. the hills helping to create that cloud cover. across golden gate bridge an entirely different scene with stratocumulus clouds. right now you've got to get that fast pass going on for you. let's get a look here. we do need some rainfall here across the bay area. we've been so desperate to get any kind of raindrops. 1.88 is all we've seen for 2013. that puts us nearly six and a half inches behind for snl and that only not goes for the south bay but the east bay, north bay and peninsula. we're running 5 to 9 inches below at least for the calendar year. one of the driest calendar years on record. we do have a little bit of hope in the forecast out here. things are starting t

"today in the bay's" bob redell is live in san jose. he has more details on this morning's camp removal. bob, good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, jon. we spoke to one man who lives here and he is going to pack up but he's hoping the city might give all of them here at this encampment on spring street a reprieve of a day or two. the point man on homeless encampments for the city told us they plan on clearing out this area around 9:00. to give you lay of the land, we're on spring street between taylor and heading. basically between the rose garden and the airport. you have this large swath of land that's owned by the city but it's undeveloped and within the past few months there's been an explosion in the number of people coming here with their tents because there was another homeless encampment in town that was shut down so a lot of people migrated here. what makes this encampment different from other encampments is that it is in the wide open. it's unsightly. the city argues that it is unsanitary. and there's also concern ab
